Late 20th Century Indonesian covered basket with hand painted Mandala motif. Handmade, hand painted. colorful intricate. and in excellent vintage condition. This round basket is hand woven from split bamboo, and has been hand dyed charcoal gray/black and painted with a floral and geometric textural dot art/point design in red, orange, green, yellow, blue and white on both top and bottom exterior. The basket sits on a wooden base ring and has a reinforced midsection where the two pieces fit together. This style of Indonesian handwoven bamboo baskets were designed for and used as packaging for wedding gifts or containers of offerings for the temple. This basket makes a great eclectic storage spot in your home for sewing items and yarns, catch-all of toys or knick-knacks, as well as a decorative Bohemian display item in a living room, den or office.
